Vat Savitri

The Hindu calendar's Vat Purnima Vrat is one of the most important days. Married ladies commemorate Vat Purnima Vrat on this day to pray for their husbands' health and longevity. Vat Savitri Vrat is observed on Amavasya in certain Indian states, while Purnima is observed in others, both in the month of Jyeshta.

In Western Odisha, it's also known as Sabitri Uwaans. Married Hindu women whose husbands are still living take it seriously as a commitment and pray for their husband's long life. The term represents the Vat-Savitri puja's origins and importance.

Significance

Married ladies observe Vat Savitri Vrat for their husband's well-being and long life. According to mythology, the magnificent Savitri deceived Lord Yama, the Lord of Death, and forced Him to return her husband Satyawan's life.

Benefits

The husband's long and fruitful life is said to be ensured by strict devotion to the fast and custom. Ladies greet each other with " During the fast, women greet each other with " (English: "Become a Savitri"). Their spouse is expected to survive well till the next seven deliveries.

Rituals

  • Get dressed in your best finery and decorate yourself with solahshringar after having a bath and doing all the puja preparations.
  • Fill a bamboo or cane basket with all of the puja materials.
  • Get a tiny banyan plant container so you may do the puja at home in the same way.
  • The Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh is represented by the Banyan tree. Brahma, the creator, is represented by the tree's roots; Vishnu, the guardian, is represented by the trunk; and Mahesh, the destroyer, is represented by the canopy. As a result, you can do the puja even if you have pictures or idols of the three deities on the altar.
  • Then, using oil or ghee, light a lamp.
  • Extend your greetings to Lord Ganesha.
  • If you have a Banyan plant in a pot, place the idols of Savitri and Satyawan close to it and begin praying. Begin the puja by asking Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh for their blessings.
  • After that, fill the Banyan plant container with water and add Haldi, Kumkum, Akshat, Roli, and Kalava.
  • Gently move the hand fan (pankha) to and fro over the banyan plant container after this step.
  • After that, offer Gandham (chandan), Pushpam (flowers), Deepam (lamp), Dhoop (Incense), and Naivedhyam (food and other preparations, such as soaked Chana and gud/jaggery, batasha and pooris, and so on).
  • When you have completed these processes, perform the banian plant pot parikrama by tying the kaccha soot around its stem seven times (a raw threat of white cotton or red kalava). There may also be different numbers of parikramas from area to region.
  • Pay paan, supari, cocoa, fruit and dakshina.
  • Then present paan.
  • Sit next to Banyan's plant at the end and read the vratkatha.

Story/Katha

According to traditions, King Ashvapati resided there, he and his queen had no children. They were led by a guru in Sun God Savitr's honour to do a pooja. The god rewarded them with a kid, called Savitris in honour of the god. He was delighted with devotion.
The monarch urged Savitri to find her own mate years later, as Savitri got older. She met King Satyavan, son of the banished blind. Narad Muni interceded with the forecast that Satyavan would die within one year, when she communicated her choice to her father.
King Ashvapati therefore urged Savitri not to marry Satyawan, but maintained that she would have him married.Savitri travelled to the forest with her spouse after marrying Satyavan, where he resided with his parents.
Villagers are calling for the projected international airport in Jewar to be renamed after Rajput ruler Prithviraj Chauhan.

Savitri began fasting a year later, as Satyavan's death approached, and on the appointed day of Satyavan's death, she went to the forest with him. Satyavan suddenly collapsed near a banyan tree. Yama arrived soon after and was going to take Satyavan's spirit away. Savitri said Yama, "If you want to take him, you must also take me since I am a chaste woman."
Lord Yama gave her a blessing to ask for three desires, observing her dedication. She begged Yama Raj in her initial desire to bless her baby with vision. She requested her father for 100 sons on the second boon, and she requested her son from Satyavan on the final and third boons.

All her requests were accepted by Lord Yama and Satyavan was about to go. It's how it can have a boy without her spouse Satyavan that Savitri stopped him stating.

In his own words, Lord Yama was imprisoned and thus he had to give back to Satyavan's life. Hundreds of thousands of Hindu married women have been monitored for the lifesp
