Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi gently made a difference in people's lives. She travelled the world for more than four decades, giving free public lectures and the experience of self-realization to people of all races, religions, and backgrounds. She not only made it possible for individuals to pass on this priceless experience to others, but she also taught them the Sahaja Yoga meditation method that they needed to keep it going.
Every human being has an intrinsic spiritual capacity that may be spontaneously awakened, according to Shri Mataji. She stressed that this self-realization, or awakening, cannot be bought. Money has never been paid for the experience of self-realization or the instruction of Sahaja Yoga meditation, and it will never be. Hundreds of thousands of people across the world have benefitted from the inner balance and stress reduction that comes with practising Sahaja Yoga meditation. Sahaja Yoga is distinguished from other kinds of meditation by its capacity to rapidly and easily engage our natural spiritual energy – and feel its benefits. Individuals may learn to control their own energy and heal mental, physical, and emotional imbalances in order to reach a sense of well-being, peace, and contentment with practise. Shri Mataji founded a non-governmental organisation for destitute women and children, several international schools teaching a holistic curriculum, health clinics offering treatment through Sahaja Yoga meditation techniques, and an arts academy to revitalise the classical skills of dance, music, and painting, in addition to Sahaja Yoga, which is now practised in over 95 countries.

1986, Italy The Italian government named him
"Personality of the Year." 1989, Moscow, Russia Sahaja Yoga was given
full official backing, including money for scientific study, following Shri
Mataji's meeting with the USSR Minister of Health. 1990-1994, New York For the
past four years, the United Nations has invited me to talk about the methods
and means to establish world peace. 1993, St. Petersburg, Russia The
Petrovskaya Academy of Art and Science has appointed him as an Honorary Member.
Only twelve persons have received this honour in the Academy's history, with
Einstein being one of them. The inaugural
International Conference on Medicine and Self-Knowledge was launched by Shri
Mataji, and it became an annual event at the Academy after that. 1994, Brazil
Shri Mataji was greeted at the airport by the mayor of Brazilia, who gave her
the key to the city and supported all of her initiatives. The 26th of
September, 1994, was declared ‘Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Day' in New York. A
welcome procession honouring Shri Mataji and commemorating her relationship
with Mahatma Gandhi was provided with police escort. 1994, British Columbia,
Canada Mr. Mike Harcourt, Premier of the Province of British Columbia, wrote a
letter of welcome on behalf of the Canadian people. Honorary Doctorate
conferred on Romania in 1995.
1995, China The Chinese
government has invited her to speak at the United Nations International Women's

Shri Mataji's honorarium into the Congressional Record in the 105th Congress in
1997 and the 106th Congress in 2000, commending her committed and persistent
efforts for mankind. 2006, Cabella Ligure, Italy Shri Mataji was given honorary
Italian citizenship, and the foundation stone for the "Shri Mataji Nirmala
Devi World Foundation of Sahaja Yoga" was laid down. Cabella Ligure is the
home of this foundation.
