Iyengar Yoga's heart and soul is the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune. For all seasoned Iyengar yoga students, this is the place to be.
Our Guruji, Yogacharya B. K. S. Iyengar, and his wife Ramamani lay the foundation stone for Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in 1973. Unfortunately, Smt. Ramamani died before the project could be finished. Guruji dedicated the Institute to her memory when it was opened in 1975. Guruji, his daughter Geeta, and his son Prashant ran the Institute. At the Institute, lessons in asana and pranayama for beginners, intermediates, and advanced students, as well as remedial and children's programmes, have been offered on a regular basis. It has evolved into one of the most important Yoga centres throughout the years. Guruji passed away on August 20, 2014, at the age of 96. Geetaji passed away on December 16, 2018, only a few days after Guruji's centenary festivities came to an end.
