Under the guidance of a live spiritual master, Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) and its foreign affiliates are a religious organisation governed by the essential spiritual principles found at the centre of most faiths. Radha Soami means "lord of the soul" in Indian, satsang means "group seeking truth," and Beas refers to the location in northern India near which the major centre is located.
Dera Baba Jaimal Singh, the RSSB's primary headquarters, is named for its founder, who arrived there in the late 1800s. The ‘Dera' is a self-contained community with administrative and residential amenities in Punjab, India. Although RSSB India is linked with the centres around the globe, each country's administration is independent, with a Board of Management that functions under a standard constitution that has been amended to fit with local laws and conditions. Volunteers manage all aspects of administration, and operations are supported solely by unrequested donations. There are no fundraising efforts carried out by the organisation. There are about 5,000 RSSB centres across India, and RSSB-affiliated groups meet in over 90 countries. Rental halls, community centres, and RSSB-owned facilities are used for meetings. These events are intended to explain the RSSB ideology. The gatherings are open to the public and are non-denominational. There are no costs, and no advertising or preaching is done. The RSSB has a publishing section that has created over 70 original spirituality products. A substantial number of these works have been translated into 35 languages by volunteers. A approximately 500,000-volume collection focusing on global religions, mysticism, philosophy, and allied disciplines would eventually be housed in a 20,000-square-metre library in India's major city. Scholars and researchers of all religions will be able to use the library.
