PhoolChatti

PhoolChatti Ashram, located just above Rishikesh, is a small slice of heaven! We are surrounded by mountain forests, hiking paths, bathing beaches, and abundant wildlife on the banks of the Ganga River (Ganges) in the Himalayan foothills. We are doubly fortunate since the Him River joins the Ganga right outside our door. The location was formerly a historic pilgrimage path and was believed to be suitable for spiritual travellers to relax.

Sri Devi Dayal ji Maharaj, a spiritually awakened sadhu, created PhoolChatti Ashram in the late 1800s to help his fellow sadhus and pilgrims passing through sacred land. Over the decades, PhoolChatti's legacy of service has persisted and extended to welcome individuals from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. Swami Dev Swarup Nanda Ji, the current Swami Ji, has been caring for and guiding PhoolChatti since 1977. Ashrams in Rishikesh's urban setting provide a variety of yoga classes. The yoga and meditation curriculum at PhoolChatti is particularly distinctive for two reasons. 1. We teach the entire yogic (spiritual) path as well as ashram living, not simply asanas (postures). Our goal is to provide students with a holistic experience that includes yoga (asanas), chanting, pranayama (breathing), lecture, meditation, and neti pot cleaning, among other things. For additional information, see Yoga Program. We provide our students with useful skills that they may apply in their daily life after the programme has ended. 2. We are a secluded ashram situated on the banks of the Ganga River in the Himalayan foothills, in a magnificent natural setting. A profound experience of the inner self is fostered in such a calm atmosphere, allowing the mind to become still and meditation to come more readily.
