Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple is situated on a hilltop in the Himachal Pradesh district of Bilaspur, near the samadhi of Bhagat Jatt Jeona Morh. The temple is connected to the rest of the city by National Highway No. 21. The temple at the top of the hill is reached through a road that curves around the hill up to a point, followed by concrete steps (that finally reach the top). There is also a cable car that takes pilgrims from the bottom of the hill to the top. The Naina Devi hills have a view of the Gobind Sagar lake. The lake was created by the Bhakra-Nangal Dam. Another tale about the temple involves a Gujjar kid named Naina. He was grazing his cattle one day when he noticed a white cow showering milk from her udders on a wall. For the next few days, he saw the same thing. He saw Goddess in her dreams one night while dreaming, and she told him that the stone is her Pindi. Raja Bir Chand was told about the whole situation and his dream by Naina. When Raja saw it happen in real life, he built a temple on the spot and named it after Naina. Since the Goddess defeated the demon Mahishasur, Shri Naina Devi Temple is also known as Mahishapeeth. Mahishasur was a powerful demon who was granted immortality by Lord Brahma on the condition that he could only be defeated by an unmarried woman, according to legend. Mahishasur began to torture and kill the Earth and the Gods as a result of this boon. To deal with the devil, all of the Gods pooled their resources and formed a Devi to help them fight him. All Gods bestowed various forms of weapons on the Devi. When Mahishasur was fascinated by Devi's immense beauty and proposed to her, she accepted. Devi told him that if he could overpower her, she would marry him. Devi beat the demon and removed both of his eyes during the fight. This prompted the Gods to joyfully applaud "Jai Naina," and hence the name. Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji is linked to yet another incident. In 1756, before embarking on his military campaign against the Mughals, he visited Shri Naina Devi and performed a Sacrificial Yagna to seek the Goddess's blessings. He was able to defeat the Mughals after receiving the blessings.

Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple

The temple is made of marble and is absolutely stunning. The first door's doors are covered in silver with exquisite deity figures etched into them. The main temple's door is also overlaid with silver and features images of Lord Sun and other Gods. Three stone statues can be found in the main temple. The first is Shri Naina Bhagwati's main figure, who is a Pindi with two beautiful prominent eyes. The second figure on the right hand, which also has two eyes, is thought to have been built by Paandavs during the Dwaapar Yug. On the left side, there is a figure of Lord Ganesh. At the temple's main entrance, there are two lion statues.

Cave

Shri Naina Devi Ji's cave is 70 feet long and situated close to the main shrine. Previously, people had to walk 1.25 kilometres to reach the temple, but the availability of a cable car has made the journey much easier.

Ropeway

It was founded by a Kolkata-based company and is also known as "Rajju Marg." To get to Bhavan, one can take cable cars from here. There are approximately 20 cable cars here, with a one-way fare of approximately Rs. 35.

Kripali Kund

Devi took out both of Mahishasur's eyes and threw them on the back side of the Naina Devi hills after defeating him. Both eyes were drawn to various locations where two wells emerged later. Both of these wells are located 2 kilometres away from the temple. One is known as "Bam ki Bawri" or "Jheera ki Bawri," while the other is known as "Bhubhak Bawri." Another myth about Kripali kund is that it was built by Lord Brahma on the spot where Mahishasur's skull landed. Brahm Kripali Kund is another name for it.

Khappar Mahishasur

It's a frightening place near the bhavan where devotees bathe before receiving darshan.

Kala Johar

Chikshu Kund is another name for this place. This is where the skull of Chikshur, Mahishasur's key general, fell. This is a religious site where people, particularly children, bathe to resolve skin problems. According to legend, married women who take a bath in its water are blessed with children, even though they are having difficulty having children.

Kolan wala Toba

This is the first destination on Shri Naina Devi Ji's journey and is known for its blooming lotuses. Before going to darshan, people take a bath in a holy pool of water here. For the development of this field, the Temple Trust has invested Rs. 1.25 crore.
