In April of 2014, Karuna Studio (previously Karuna Studio) began as a small yoga session for friends and family. Over the course of three years, it has evolved into a cosy home studio with over 12 weekly sessions taught by six different instructors, as well as a yoga shala in Jinja! More than a yoga studio, Karuna Studio is a community. Despite the fact thatPayal started it, it has grown into a healthy garden that is irrigated by all the instructors and students who come to practise and share. Despite their similarity, our team of teachers is diverse, and each one has something unique to contribute in addition to yoga. Our mission at Karuna Studio is twofold: 1. to bring yoga, meditation, and mindfulness into the lives of as many people as possible and to provide a safe environment for support, sharing, and growth; 2. to build a community and a safe space where anybody can come to discover yoga, meditation, laughter, friendship, support, and free hugs. Karuna’s impact is reached collectively through training on Karuna's influence is seen not just via training on Karuna Yoga Journeys, but also through Karuna Worldwide Fellows who, after completing their journey, implement the inclusive and varied teaching model into their global communities. Over 70 students have completed the KYJ methodology and training, and they are already providing over 200 hours of yoga to disadvantaged and remote areas (2019) The 100th student is expected to graduate in November 2019. Karuna's mission is to embrace people of all abilities and aims to make yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of age, physical disabilities, or socioeconomic position, through trainings, seminars, and community days. In 2019, trips to Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, North Cyprus, Corfu, and India will be available. Karuna was able to expand the business model with positive effect thanks to a relationship with Innodriven, a global service design organisation, in 2018. The cooperation allowed Karuna to focus on establishing a movement of yoga aficionados with local impact.

At the age of 24, Payal transitioned from a biotechnologist to a yoga instructor in 2014. Since 2017, they've worked together to train over 1000 students in 17 countries.
