The Bihar School of Yoga, which is based in Ganga Darshan Vishwa Yogapeeth in Munger. It is Sri Satyananda Saraswati's karma bhumi, which he picked and declared to be the hub of the yogic revival in the twenty-first century. In Munger, Sri Swami Satyananda received the insight that he would carry out his guru's mission by establishing a yoga fellowship and devoting himself to the development of human consciousness by distributing the light of yoga.
Ganga Darshan Vishwa Yogapeeth is located in Munger, Bihar, on a hill overlooking the Ganga river, 175 kilometres from Patna, the state capital, and 500 kilometres from Kolkata. Ganga Darshan Yogashram boasts a breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view of the Mother Ganga as she surges over verdant paddy fields, nourishing, revitalising, and purifying the surrounding surroundings, set against a backdrop of natural beauty and surrounded by exquisite gardens. The Ganga is a symbol of yoga, the journey of the soul to re-unite with the ultimate. A fresh vision of yogic living is inspired at Ganga Darshan Yogashram, making it a spiritual refuge in the twenty-first century. King Karna of the Mahabharata ruled from the site of Ganga Darshan Vishwa Yogapeeth in the past. Here, he committed significant deeds of tapasya (sacrifice), sadhana (spiritual effort), and daan (unconditional generosity) that are still remembered today. At the same moment when Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati departed his mortal body in Rishikesh, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati got a vision of Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati blessing him. It is on this spot that he refined his sadhanas and saw the future role of yoga for humanity.

The Bihar School of Yoga, Bihar Yoga Bharati, Yoga Research Foundation, and Yoga Publications Trust are all located in Munger, a lovely rural community overlooking the Ganga.
Munger is a spiritually and historically significant location.
Before returning to Ayodhya, Sri Rama and Sita stayed here during their exile.
Here, Mahabharata's King Karna, the older brother of the five Pandavas,
practised and refined tantric sadhanas. Lord Buddha, as well as more modern great
figures like Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda, visited Munger to relax
and continue their spiritual sadhana and studies.
After the terrible earthquake in Munger in 1936, Sri Swami
Sivananda Saraswati came to the town and offered kirtans.
The founder of the Bihar School of Yoga, Sri Swami Satyananda
Saraswati, experienced the sublime ecstasy of the highest state of awareness at
Munger. He got the epiphany that "Yoga is the culture of future" and
that he needed to form a worldwide yoga fraternity. Here he achieved his
mission: to raise human awareness by bringing the knowledge of yoga to light
and propagating it.
In 2004 Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India (2002-2007) named Munger as the ‘City of Yoga’.
